Why use UCAS Extra?
UCAS Extra is a free service that allows you to add another course choice before Clearing. Find out if Extra is the right choice for you.
You’ve been rejected from all your UCAS choices
UCAS Extra gives you another chance to apply for a course if your five UCAS choices have rejected your application. You’ll receive all the details you need to apply through UCAS Extra once UCAS has registered these rejections.
Your plans have changed
You may have decided on another career path since you applied or that the subjects you’ve chosen aren't the right fit. You may think the unis you’ve applied for are a little too far from home and that it’s no longer practical to study there. Don’t worry, there’s no need to scrap your application and apply the following year. All you need to do is decline all the offers/applications you’ve made and try again via UCAS Extra.
You’ve received four rejections for medical school
Only a small number of students use UCAS Extra each year. The most common reason for doing so is having received four rejections for medical school and needing to make a fifth choice.
More students are expected to be eligible for UCAS Extra in 2023. This is due to the increase in applications for medical and allied health courses, and a limit on the number of places available.
You don’t want to wait for Clearing
Think and seek advice before releasing your remaining offers – highly popular courses are less likely to be available through Clearing. Our Clearing course search will list whether a course is available via Clearing.
